How Social Media REALLY Works
As a web developer, I’m getting sick of hearing about social media. The hype being drummed up by marketing experts makes my head hurt. Daring Fireball just posted an article with this quote:
“So maybe instead of getting your company on twitter, paying marketers to mention you are on twitter, and paying people to blog about your company, forget all that and just make awesome stuff that gets people excited about your products…”
Wow… what a concept. Build a company that offers value and service and let your customers blog and tweet about you. Crazy.

Twitterers Beware
PC World has an article about how Tiny URL, a service used by twitter users and others to create short URLs, has been exploited by phishing scammers to hide a link’s destination. The article describes how to check a suspicious Tiny URL and gives examples of ways the service can be used maliciously such as in fraudulent text messages, tweets and IM’s.
